MRMIP stands for Major Risk Medical Insurance Program. MRMIP is California's insurance program for people with health problems who are not able to buy individual health insurance. It is an important resource for people who cannot buy insurance because no insurance company will cover them.

MRMIP Graduate Program
The following information applies only to people who are on the MRMIP Graduate Program.
Prior to September 30, 2007, you could stay on MRMIP coverage for only 36 months. After 36 months, you could then buy coverage from a MRMIP Graduate Program plan.
Health plans that sell individual health insurance in California were required to offer MRMIP Graduate Program coverage for MRMIP "graduates." The cost is 110% of the rate for regular MRMIP Program coverage.
